SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES:
A Children's Author talks
about life with food allergies!
Let's talk about food allergy safety! What are food allergies? How do we keep our food- allergic friends safe and still have them feel like they are a part of the team. My food allergy awareness assembly brings students, teachers, and school staff together to understand this growing epidemic in a serious, yet fun and interactive way.
In this assembly, I present and talk to your students and staff about food allergy safety, the "kid-friendly" facts, what my life was like as a "food-allergic" child, and how I deal with my food allergies as an adult, as well as being the mother of two food-allergic children. I close the assembly by doing a reading of my popular food-allergy children's book, The Day I Met The Nuts.

Thank you for coming in and teaching us about writing. I loved making those crazy news reports! Now you have inspired me and most of the class to start writing. One day I would love to have you come again. And I would really want to be a writer like you some day!
~ Sydney
Since I was one of the editors I learned that editing a newspaper is very tough. I liked making the comic strip and putting things on the newspaper. It was fun when we played the game where we had to tell a truth and a lie. I liked the story about Sergeant Stubby. Someday I want to become an author too.
~Patrick
It's very thrilling to have an author come to our room, personally, because I like reading. I hope you come once again because I haven't had enough of your activities. See you soon.
~ Maansi
My favorite part was writing the story, I love having a good title to write about. You helped me. I think you are a really cool writer. Thank you so much. I hope you can come back next year for me and my sister.
~Becca
Thank you for teaching us how to make newspapers and let us have a lot of fun doing newspapers. It was the best day of my life. And thank you for telling us that story about the dog...
~Scott
Hopefully you will visit us again. If you happen to come again, do it before the year ends, cause we'll be in middle school!
~Olivia
We all had a groovy time. Because I got sports, I think I'm going to make a series of fictional Redskins games. Anyway, thank you!!
~Kyle
Thank you for taking the time to come in and do a writing workshop, it was really fun! You have inspired me to start writing stories. I have already started writing one...
~Noaura
Thank you for opening up a new world.
~Garrison
I enjoyed your visit very much. I really want to be a writer when I grow up. I hope you do another workshop soon! Or at least next year.
~Julia
I learned that people can think of good ideas for the newspapers. I liked the poem you wrote for us. The project may have taken a while but it was fun. Thanks for your autograph. I took it and hung it on the wall. I hope I can see you next year, or again this year.
~Noah
